For those who like to interactive game or frequently download large files a higher speed will be more suitable. Download Limits - Download limits may also impact the cost of a package; again if you are a relatively light user then a low download allowance will probably suffice whereas an unlimited allowance may be most cost efficient for a person who frequently downloads large files, makes calls over their broadband connection or who participates in interactive gaming.

Extras - Other things to take into account when comparing the cost of packages from different providers is whether there is a setup or connection charge and whether a modem or router is included free with the package. You should also compare the extra features offered by each provider, such as whether they include free VoIP calls and whether they offer a comprehensive security package as a good range of extra features can help save you money elsewhere.

Packages - Bundle packages are offered by some providers (mainly cable providers), these can be a convenient and economical way to gain access to the internet. Bundle packages usually offer a combination of inclusive phone calls, TV channels and broadband access for a set monthly price, although some providers are now starting to include mobile calls in broadband bundles too.

Offers - Many broadband packages have introductory offers, so before choosing your package, make sure you check what the price increases to after the offer period ends. You should also always check the length of the contract you are signing up to. Several broadband providers do not require you to remain in a contract, although with these deals be sure to check the small print as they may have cancellation fees.

When choosing a broadband package it is important to remember that you usually get what you pay for, so really think about how you will use your internet connection before you sign up so you avoid paying for access to information on the web that you just won’t use.
